Abstract
The developments in microsurgery are of great benefit to experimental animal surgery and clinical surgery, particularly vascular and transplantation surgery. In 1961 Dr. Sun Lee achieved the microvascular techniques for portacaval shunt and
kidney
transplantation in the rat. Since then, experimental organ transplantation has been performed widely in this animal. For a couple of years various organ transplantations have been carried out at this institute. On the basis of the experience of
microsurgical transplantation, the pitfalls of basic microvascular surgery and experimental organ transplantation are commented here briefly.
With this as a monentum it is hoped that this report will enhance one's experience in microsurgery so that he can move comfortably into clinical microsurgical cases or into research projects where various microsurgical skills are required.
